From competition to the table: championing Chinese wine from Macao

Behind these award-winning restaurants and teams lies Wynn's strategic vision and long-term commitment to advancing fine dining and guest experiences. The Wynn Signature Chinese Wine Awards is one of Wynn's leading visionary initiatives. Established in 2024 by "Wynn Signature" – the exclusive lifestyle brand at Wynn – this awards platform has rapidly evolved into a world-class platform encompassing wine education, industry exchange, judging and promotional events.

In 2025, the competition introduced the "Wynn Sommelier's Choice" award category. Through this initiative, Wynn's sommelier team draws on its expertise in food and wine pairing, along with its meticulous approach to wine selection, to identify Chinese wines that best complement and enhance the distinctive characteristics of the dishes served at each restaurant. A selection of award-winning wines from the competition is also incorporated into the wine lists at Wynn's restaurants and featured across a diverse range of dining experiences, including pairing menus, regional wine dinners, and themed tastings, creating opportunities for Chinese wines to demonstrate their versatility across cuisines, cultures and dining occasions.

The schedule and promotional roadmap for the 2027 edition of the Wynn Signature Chinese Wine Awards have recently been announced. By leveraging this competition platform and drawing on its portfolio of acclaimed dining establishments and professional sommelier teams, Wynn will continue introducing exceptional Chinese wines to guests from around the world, showcasing the distinctive allure of China's terroirs while further strengthening Macao's unique appeal as a world-class gastronomic tourism destination.

Established in 1993 by Tucker Seabrook, the Wine List of the Year Awards were introduced to recognize and reward the enormous investment in time, skill and resources that go into developing the best quality wine and beverage lists. In 2012, Rob Hirst, founder of the International Wine List of the Year Awards, and Tommy Lam, founder of the China National Sommelier Competition, launched "China's Wine List of the Year Awards" in China. Since its establishment more than 10 years ago, the awards have not only discovered and recognized many outstanding restaurants and individuals, but have also risen to become the authoritative list of the leading players in China's F&B sector and sommelier industry.
