Macau, November 13, 2006 –Wynn Macau employees gave blood today in response to a call from the Macau Blood Transfusion Centre, which is badly in need of blood supplies, including rarer blood types, to stock Macau's hospitals and healthcare centers.
Participation started at the top, with Wynn Macau's President & General Manager, Grant R. Bowie, who also arranged to have snacks and drinks on hand for all donating employees. A large meeting room at Wynn Macau was set aside for the day for the blood drive.
A number of donors were found to have RhD negative blood, which is in short supply in Macau as it is rarely found in the Chinese population, but is more common among Caucasians. As a large and diverse family, Wynn Macau staff volunteered to test their blood types and donate the much-needed RhD negative supplies to Macau's community.
Identifying new RhD negative blood donors who can donate vital supplies is an important step in building awareness, and growing the donor population in Macau . Further donation drives will be organized by Wynn Macau in the future depending on the needs of the Macau Blood Transfusion Centre.
