Macao, November 3, 2025 – The “UN80 & UNUat50 Celebration Dinner” and the “AI Education Day,” organized by the United Nations University Institute in Macau and sponsored by Wynn were successfully held recently at Wynn Palace. This marks the successful conclusion of the institute’s milestone celebration series for the “80th anniversary of the United Nations” and the “50th anniversary of the United Nations University.” Bringing together representatives from governments, industries, academia, and community organizations worldwide and in Macao, the event focused on artificial intelligence and was dedicated to advancing the implementation of the “Pact for the Future” and “Global Digital Compact,” and to promoting inclusive digital governance and sustainable development.
Mr. Craig Fullalove, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer of Wynn Macau, Limited, said that Wynn is very honored to join the UN in celebrating its 80th anniversary, which is a momentous occasion. Sustainability is not only at the heart of Wynn’s operations, but also its vision for Macao’s future. Wynn is committed to continuing to be an active contributor toward these goals over many years to come.
The UNU Macau AI Education Day was held on October 25, attracting students of all ages, educators, and policymakers for a full-day of immersive learning and intergenerational dialogue, exploring the innovative applications and future development of artificial intelligence in education. The high-level plenary session, “Generative AI and Higher Education,” chaired by Prof. Tshilidzi Marwala, UNU Rector and UN Under-Secretary-General, was the highlight of the day. Global education leaders shared insights on how generative AI is reshaping learning ecosystems, research models, and institutional strategies. Discussions focused on digital equity, ethical integration, and the adaptability of higher education systems. Prof. Marwala and Mr. Ernest Chan, Vice-President (Administration) of Lingnan University, unveiled the UNU Hub on Humanitarian Innovation and Technology at Lingnan University—the first UNU Hub in Asia. The Hub will serve as a regional platform for research, training, and policy innovation, focusing on technology-based solutions to humanitarian challenges.
The Education Day featured a variety of interactive elements, attracting students of all ages to engage in workshops, masterclasses, and creative activities, including the “AI & SDG Game” and a Model United Nations simulation. Special sessions with local partners—including Forum Macao, the University of Saint Joseph, and the Macau International Model United Nations Youth Association— were also arranged, including a regional training session focused on AI integration into policy frameworks for Portuguese-speaking countries, and a bootcamp on TinyML and AI for SDGs. These activities were dedicated to linking AI learning to real-world impact.
The AI Education Day brought together global technology experts and senior UN officials to share cutting-edge insights on AI with the younger generation. Wynn always places great importance on young talent cultivation and growth. By supporting and encouraging local youth to engage in technological innovation, Wynn aims to nurture future talent in this field, support Macao in building a higher-level platform for international exchange and cooperation, and contribute to global sustainable development.
